Bahareh Yekkehkhany, MSc.
Bahareh is a PhD student in the geomatics engineering department at the University of Calgary. Her master’s degree research focused on agricultural classification via multi-temporal polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Her PhD research is focused on wind-vector estimation over sea surfaces by compact polarimetric SAR data.
Bahareh started coding and attending robotics competitions when she was 15. She was part of the executive committee for the Sensors and Models in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Conference in 2011 and 2013, as well as for the Women in Data Science Conference in 2019. Recently, her teams won first place in the Canadian Space Agency’s Apps Challenge in 2019 by developing software to detect moving objects in space and third place in the University of Calgary’s Geomathon 2019 by developing a parking-detection system.
